Radia Technologies Unveils Next-Generation Communications Solution for Alarm Verification & Emergency Response coordination

09/10/2002

Here at the 2002 ASIS International Seminar & Exhibition, Radia Technologies Corporation (Booth #3846) today introduced RadiaLinkTM, a highly secure communications technology for the corporate, educational and governmental security markets that greatly improves the effectiveness of alarm verification, decision support and emergency response coordination. When triggered by a critical security or life safety event, RadiaLink instantly enables all authorized parties—including security guards, management and emergency responders—to collaborate in a virtual command center using interactive video, voice and data communications, thus ensuring the fastest, safest and most informed response possible.

RadiaLink is designed to maximize the functionality and value of an organization’s existing security and life safety investments—such as fire, CCTV, burglar and access control, whether analog or digital—by securely driving event-specific information from those systems to key personnel outside any protected premises. Authorized parties located anywhere in the world can then access the data through a secure, automatically created Internet-based network for all event-related information and communication. This practical and cost-effective approach centralizes security and life safety decision-making, and at the same time aids in the delivery of mission-critical emergency services.

"This is a highly secure, cutting-edge communications technology that will keep security management informed and in control of developing situations, regardless of where protected sites are located," said Stephen Biley, Manager of Corporate Security, GE Capital. "RadiaLink also brings the public and private sectors together in a way that’s never been done before. Once an event is verified, RadiaLink delivers vital information to municipal agencies like police, fire and emergency medical providers that may help them respond more safely, quickly and effectively."

"Today’s security and life safety systems offer incredible benefits, but when a critical event occurs, these systems can’t instantly get the right information to the right people at the right time," said Bruce Foodman, President and CEO, Radia Technologies. "RadiaLink fills this market gap by immediately providing on-site personnel, off-site management and emergency responders with a highly secure, interactive command center for incident control and communications. This approach assures customers they’re getting the most efficient and effective response."

RadiaLink’s Five Primary Features

The RadiaLink solution embodies the following:

• Highly Secure System Operation – Proprietary technology prevents hackers from using the system for intelligence gathering. Sophisticated computer algorithms prevent unauthorized information access by authenticating every user attempting to "log on" to an event in-progress.

• Interactive Video, Voice and Data Communications – The multi-user system architecture and universal data capabilities of the Internet medium enable a large number of authorized responders to communicate and collaborate via video, voice and data at the same time.

• Streamlined Event Connectivity – Customer-specific protocols provide the system with the ability to automatically and/or manually notify a large number of authorized responders via e-mail and text messaging. Once notified, gaining access to the event takes seconds.

• Event Analysis Tools – The system includes a number of analysis tools, including the ability to see both real-time and recorded video; create a ‘photo album’ that allows responders to view high-resolution still images; and record impressions of an event and actions taken in response.

• Communications Failover Transfer – The system automatically detects the unlikely event of a communications failure and immediately re-routes information traffic for continuous service.

The Radia Model

RadiaLink is provided through a monthly subscription. To hold capital purchases of equipment and software to a minimum, the system requires initial purchase and installation of just two computers: one computer for performing external monitoring functions, and a second computer with an Interface 2100 integration controller for protected site control. Responders outside the protected site are able to use existing desktop or laptop computers. Application software, provided to customers and emergency service agencies free of charge, is specifically designed for protected site, monitoring site and responder functions.
