Another Supermarket Network Win For SignStorey

03/30/2005

Price Chopper Supermarkets, a regional U.S. supermarket chain in New England, Pennsylvania and New York state, is implementing an in-store digital screen network in all 107 of its outlets.

The digital-signage network, owned and operated by SignStorey, narrowcasts a combination of brand advertising, consumer educational content and customized messaging from Price Chopper on 42-inch plasma screens located around the perimeter of stores.

SignStorey earlier this year rolled out a network in supermarkets owned by Pathmark, another chain in the northeastern U.S..

“Consumers surveyed in our stores conveyed that SignStorey’s digital screens added useful information and entertainment value to their shopping experience. SignStorey’s program gives us the opportunity to tout new-product, store and other consumer information,” said Price Chopper spokeswoman Mona Golub.

“Today’s shoppers want more information where and when they make purchasing decisions,” said SignStorey CEO Virginia Cargill. “SignStorey’s programming will provide shoppers with the information they want and will provide relevant food-preparation and entertaining ideas, health and wellness information and more. We look forward to working with Price Chopper to develop an even more exciting shopping environment in their stores.”

Based in Schenectady, New York state, the privately-held Golub Corporation owns and operates more than 100 Price Chopper supermarkets. Golub's approximately 22,000 employees collectively own about 55 percent of the company's stock.
