Becker appointed to post at Next Generation Ventures

Next Generation Ventures (NextGen), LLC, formed by a unique joint venture between The Phoenix Companies, Inc., and Connecticut Innovations, has appointed Todd H. Becker to the position of managing director, investments. The company, headquartered in Rocky Hill, provides seed-stage financing and professional management support to start-up technology companies committed to locating in Connecticut.

As a managing director, investments, Becker is responsible for identifying, developing and managing portfolio investments. He also provides business development expertise and managerial assistance to help portfolio companies grow into high-performance organizations.

Becker comes to NextGen with over 15 years of technology, electronic commerce, management consulting and venture capital experience. Prior to joining NextGen, he was the founder and managing director of PomeGranate, a venture capital firm located in Ridgefield, the co-founder and co-manager of Mercator Ventures Fund I, LLC, an early stage venture capital fund, and a principal with PRTM, a management consulting firm serving technology-driven businesses. Becker also served as an active board member or advisor for many high-tech start-up companies, including FairMarket (NSDQ: FAIM), Color Kinetics, and FitLinxx.

A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Becker holds a master of science degree in electrical engineering and computer science. He also received a master of science degree in management from MIT Sloan School of Management and a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Worcestor Polytechnic Institute. Becker is a member of the MIT Enterprise Forum, the MIT Entrepreneurship Society, the Connecticut Venture Group, and the Mass Interactive Media Council. He also serves on the steering committee of New York-based Tristate Ventures angel network. Becker resides in Ridgefield.
